Milan Fashion Week Highlights

Prada got a lot of attention for their Milan Fashion Week Spring 2013 runway show. Women's Wear Daily highlighted the accessories and the shoes from the show as being some of the most impressive of all the Milan Fashion Week runway shows. When I first looked through the collection on Style.com I was not that "wowed" by the designs, but after looking through the collection several times now it is definitely starting to grow on me. The inspiration for the show comes from asian influences such as the japanese blossom, geishas, and kimonos. There is no disputing that the sunglasses from the runway show were amazing featuring the asian inspired blossoms across the top for an edgy and fashion-forward look. The shoes were inspired by geisha platforms and sandals. The sandals had chunky heels and satin bows to polish the look. Miuccia Prada also paired these fun shoes with metallic and pink leather socks. Asian prints and tailoring are a huge trend coming from all of the Fashion Week runway shows and you will definitely find me trying it out!

Spring 2013 Trend: Bra Tops

Victoria Beckham...AWESOME!
Richard Chai
DKNY
Derek Lam
WWD reported that bra tops are one of the sexiest trends from New York Fashion Week runway shows. I couldn't be happier! My bra top collection definitely grew over the summer, scoring some amazing vintage bra tops at flea markets and consignment stores. Frederick's of Hollywood has also become a new obsession of mine, selling cheap and cute corsets and bodysuits. I fully support the innerwear as outerwear movement!

My fav Frederick's of Hollywood bodysuit!

Alexander Wang Does It Again

Spring 2013
Fall 2012

Alexander Wang stunned the fashion world again at his Spring 2013 runway show. Wang says his collection is a play on the "urban uniform" taking basic pieces like the t-shirt, board short, windbreaker, and parka and updating it with cut-outs and animal-inspired abstract detailing. Wang says he does this through "eyeletting"and many of the garments have croc spines eyeletted down the back. At the end of the show Wang once again demonstrates that he is one of the most creative and innovative designers when he turns on a black-light and his models glow in the dark, making his show one of the most talked about of all the fashion week shows. Wang's show back in Spring for Fall 2012 also turned heads because of his use of fishnet turtlenecks and large jacket hoods to create a cage-like look to his models. It was during this show that Alexander Wang proved he is a force to be reckoned it when he debuted and spear-headed the mixed-media trend that swept the fashion world after the runway shows. Designs mixed different materials like leather, tweed, and fishnet making his show very memorable. Alexander Wang continues to be one of my favorite designers and I can't wait to see what he does next!

Spring 2013 Colors Trends By Pantone

Pantone revealed the color trends for Spring 2013. The top five colors for women are a nautical color story that are fresh and fun for spring, and can be easily incorporated into your wardrobe. Monaco Blue is the top color trend in Spring 2013 fashion for both men and women. The colors ranking six through 10 are a pop-art inspired color story that will liven up any outfit! I am especially excited about adding pieces in "Tender Shoots" and "Poppy Red" to my wardrobe, all of the colors go really nicely together and are definitely something different.

Glitter In The Air

After the Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week it was very apparent that waxed denim was going to be a big trend. I still really like the waxed denim look and I have noticed a lot of waxed denim jeans made by J Brand. The trend has now transitioned into a metallic painted and speckled denim some even with victorian damask prints. I came across a pair of silver painted Hudson jeans at work today that were really cute and on-trend. Seven For All Mankind carries the fashion-forward gold jeans worn by the first girl in the photo above. Current Elliott is another brand that is always on top of the denim trends, and their version can be seen in the fourth girl in the photo above. The great thing about this new trend is that it is mixing the waxed denim trend from early spring and the floral print denim from late spring and making it better. This trend is guaranteed to be here for a while!

Alexander Wang Splurge!
